Scallop Season 2017

In July and August, scalloping comes to Citrus County. Part snorkeling experience, part treasure dive and saltwater fishing trip, scalloping is fun for all. Start planning your scallop season 2017 vacation here!

Citrus County’s bay scallops sit in seagrass beds under five or six feet of water on the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. A favorite activity of many families, scalloping requires little more than a snorkel, a mask and a mesh bag. Scallopers over the age of 16 also need a Florida fishing license.
